Computer Information Systems
Computer Information Systems Specialists work in business and industry to apply PC computer technology in such jobs as help desk operators, PC specialists, network specialists, software support, and entry level data base applications developers and programmers.
This program is also designed to help people become more productive in their existing jobs or professions. It adapts to the requirements of the business world and responds to technological changes in the computer industry. Specific class offerings and/or content will change to reflect the times.
The program has basic core requirements, followed by different areas of possible concentration. Courses may be taken individually and can be taken in any sequence as long as any prerequisites have been met.
The Computer Information Systems Program (CIS) has been in place training students since 1983. The goal is to provide computer skills which can be added to past experience or additional training/education, to improve and "up-date" your knowledge. The CIS program is available either as a certificate (2 yr, part-time) or as an Associate Degree program (2 yr., full-time). The program has been designed to accommodate students who need courses in the evening or on the weekend.
