Funeral Service Education
There are three main activities of a funeral service professional - embalming, funeral directing, and management. An individual trained as an embalmer and funeral director has the greatest potential for employment. After a few years of experience, there may be opportunities in management for qualified individuals.
In fact, funeral home management was recently rated as the number one management job for the coming years because of job security, reasonable salaries for the educational requirements, and an increasing need for managers as the baby boomer generation retires. Also, because of corporate acquisition companies, management opportunities have increased in recent years.
For the past ten years or more, there have been significantly more employment opportunities in the Great Northwest than there have been qualified employees. Other parts of the country vary as to the availability of employment.
