ECE243 :  Emerging Literacy

Building on the student's knowledge of the paths of speech and language development in early childhood, this course focuses on methods and activities for supporting foundation skills for reading and writing. Topics include the print-rich environment, phonemics and phonology, book handling skills, invented spelling and whole language methods.
Prerequisite: RD090, WR090, each with a grade of "C" or better, or placement above stated course levels; and ECE123.
