HT108 :  Introduction to the Hospitality and Tourism Industry

The hospitality and tourism industry, its history and development, and the composition of the many component segments and their interrelationships and interdependency are featured in this course. The organization of the industry, career opportunities, and challenges are a central focus. Hospitality businesses including hotels, resorts, cruising, restaurants and foodservice management, meeting and convention planning and event planning, recreation, gaming management, clubs and events and attractions management are examined. Future training needs and professional development activities within the industry are reviewed.
Prerequisite: RD090 and WR090, each with a grade of "C" or better; or placement above stated course levels.
