The Saints picked up the rare “three-peat” by knocking off Everett Community College today 11-3 in the NWAACC Tournament at Delta Park. (NWAACC is the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges.)

Co-MVP (most valuable player) of the tournament, Kayla Anderson, struck out seven batters en-route to the victory and had plenty of support at the plate. Co-MVP Amanda Bunch hit a home run and a single.

Mai Galusha hit a homerun and a triple, Jessica Guy hit three singles and a double and Brittany Chestnut hit a single and a double. The three players were named to the all-tournament team.

In other highlights, Ashley Devincenzi hit for two singles and a double and Alexis Cline and MacKenzie Samuelson each hit for singles.

“The combined effort was a real tribute to this team – these young ladies have endured a lot this season but they are resilient and they know how to persevere and today they are champions,” said Kim Hyatt, MHCC athletic director.

MHCC’s winning softball team is coached by Meadow McWhorter, head coach, and assistant coaches Chelsie Speer and Christyne Alley.
