Honors

As a student at Mt. Hood Community College, there are multiple student honors programs to recognize your academic success. Student honors are processed approximately 4 weeks after the end of each term. There are also honor societies you can be a part of based on your interests.

President’s Honor Roll

Students who achieve a term grade point average of 3.85 or above with a minimum of 12 credit hours will be listed on the President’s Honor Roll for that quarter. President’s Honors is designated on the student’s MHCC transcript under the term that the student qualifies for the honors. A letter is emailed to the student from the office of the President.

Dean’s List

Students who achieve a term grade point average of 3.65 to 3.84 inclusive with a minimum of 6 credit hours will be listed on the Dean’s List for that quarter. The Dean’s List honor is designated on the student’s MHCC transcript under the term that the student qualifies for the honor. A letter is emailed to the student from the office of the President.

Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year colleges. Rho Theta is the Mt. Hood Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. To join Rho Theta, a student must have accumulated a total of 12 credits at MHCC toward an associate degree and must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher. All members must also maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Rho Theta is designated on the student’s Mt. Hood Community College transcript under the term that the student qualifies for Rho Theta and Phi Theta Kappa sends a certificate and membership number to each new member.

Alpha Mu Gamma

Alpha Mu Gamma, National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society, has a local chapter at MHCC, Alpha Alpha Theta. By earning the grade of A for at least 9 credit hours in one foreign language (Spanish, Japanese, French, German, ASL, English in IECC) at MHCC and maintaining the GPA of 3.0 or better, you can become a life-time member of Alpha Mu Gamma. Members have opportunities for some scholarships, national conventions and regional conferences, and receive newsletters and get involved in National Foreign Language Week celebration which is in the first week of March every year.
