Program Eligibility Requirements
Who may be eligible for the TRiO Student Support Services program:
- Students who are preparing to transfer to a 4-year college or university,
AND
- who intend to earn a Certificate or Associate degree from MHCC prior to transferring to a 4-year college or university
AND
- who are enrolled at least ¾ time (9 or more credit hours)
AND
- who are U.S. citizens or nationals of the United States or meet the eligibility requirements to receive federal student financial assistance,
AND
- who are motivated to succeed, willing to utilize, and able to benefit from program services
AND
- who have a need for academic support as indicated by one or more of the following:
- current enrollment or current placement in any of the following courses: RD90, RD 115, WR90, WR 115, *MTH 20, MTH60, MTH65, MTH95, ENL 201R, ENL201S, ENL201W (*If in MTH 20, must be enrolled in course and get instructor recommendation after mid-term)
- failing grade(s) on college transcript
- GPA between 1.0 and 2.49
- just returning to education (within past 6 months) after being out of school 5 or more years
- just returning to education (within past 6 months) after earning a High School Equivalency or GED
- limited English proficiency
- need to raise or maintain grades to reach specific career goal or gain admission to specific program
- undecided on career goal
AND - who meet at least one of the following:
- federal low-income eligibility (family taxable income does not exceed 150% of the poverty level)
- first generation college eligibility (a parent or guardian has not earned a bachelor’s degree)
- documented disability eligibility
