The TRIO College First Project is a federally funded grant by the U.S. Department of Education since fall 2006.
The mission of the TRIO College First project is to identify eligible youth with the potential for postsecondary education and encourage them to complete high school and enroll in the college or university of their choice.
The purpose is to identify, select, and deliver educational, career and cultural services to six- hundred students from 6th grade through 12th grade who are from low income families and whose parents have not graduated from college.
TRIO College First services:
- Field trips to colleges and university
- Career & cultural events
- Career assessments
- Assistance with:
- Financial aid application
- Scholarship applications
- College admissions applications and waivers
- The TRIO Advisors are the advocate for the student and may meet with parents, teachers, and counselors to improve academic progress and high school achievement.
