• MHCC Visual Arts Department presents The Watercolor Society of Oregon with Ed Labadie

Gresham, Ore. - Each year the Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO) assembles a spring tour of 20 outstanding paintings and this year Mt. Hood Community College will be included on the WSO's six-month tour. The tour features a remarkable diversity of styles ranging from Impressionistic to realistic landscapes by the best watercolorists in Oregon.

In addition, Ed Labadie, former Chair of WSO, will present Exploring Visual Architecture . Labadie is a professional art instructor and versatile artist who has taught painting and drawing throughout the US, New Zealand and Australia. Labadie states that in his contemporary abstract works, he explores, discovers and contemplates design in a free-form style he terms "creating from chaos."

The MHCC Watercolor show runs from Jan. 4 - Feb. 4, 2016.  A reception will be held Thursday, Jan.7, from 6-8 p.m. in the gallery. Artists will be attending to discuss their process. Gallery hours are Mon. - Fri. from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; the gallery is closed weekends and holidays.

All paintings in the show are for sale.

The mission of the Visual Arts gallery is to create a welcoming center for artists and to raise student, staff and public consciousness about the importance of art in our community and in our world.
