AR 4010: Academic Calendar

The vice president of instruction will facilitate the review of the academic calendar with appropriate departments, faculty senate, and president’s cabinet regarding holiday closure planning, and to incorporate collective bargaining agreement components, including but not limited to college closure days, in-service and finals schedules. The Board of Education approves the academic calendar.

The academic calendar should be of sufficient length to ensure the equivalent of eight weeks of instruction for summer, 11 weeks of instruction for fall and 10 weeks of instruction for winter and spring term (excluding final examination days) for all credit classes.

Holidays are observed on the dates noted or on alternate dates and include:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

The number of days that define the basic full-time faculty service contract is 176 days.
