AR 4235: Credit by Examination

Credit by examination may be obtained by one of the following methods:

• Achievement of a score of three or higher on an Advanced Placement (AP) Examination administered by the College Entrance Examination Board or a score of four or higher on the International Baccalaureate (IB) exam pursuant to ORS 350.417 and rules adopted by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) relating to the awarding of academic credit.
• Achievement of a score that qualifies for credit by examination using sufficient evidence provided by the student, the institution, and/or an outside entity such as CLEP, CAEL, ACE, etc. Evidence required by the institution must be based on academically sound credit for prior learning (CPL) assessment methods, including, but not limited to, institutionally developed tests, final examinations, performance-based assessments, demonstrations, presentations, portfolios, or industry certifications.
• Credit by satisfactory completion of an examination administered by the college in lieu of completion of a course listed in the college catalog.
• Achievement of an examination administered by other agencies approved by the college.
• Credits acquired by examination are not applicable to meeting such unit load requirements as Selective Service deferment, Veteran's benefits, or Social Security benefits.
