Mt. Hood Community College Manufacturing Day for Local High School Students Success

On Friday, October 6, 2023, Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) hosted an educational event, Manufacturing Day, aimed at introducing approximately 280 high school students from 12 local schools to the diverse range of career opportunities in manufacturing.

Manufacturing Day is an annual event at MHCC showcasing the institution's various programs designed to prepare students for rewarding careers in the manufacturing sector.

Participating high schools included Parkrose High School, Centennial High School, David Douglas High School, Center for Advanced Learning, Reynolds Learning Academy, Gresham High School, Sam Barlow High School, Springwater Trail High School, Corbett High School, Reynolds High School, Metro East Web Academy, and Fir Ridge High School. Students from these schools explored MHCC's numerous manufacturing programs, including automotive, integrated metals, mechatronics, and engineering.

Several local organizations partnered with MHCC to make Manufacturing Day 2023 possible including Cascade Corporation, Sheet Metal Institute, Microchip, Pierce Pacific Manufacturing, GrovTec, Organically Grown, Interstate Advanced Materials, and onsemi.

The event featured interactive workshops, hands-on demonstrations, and informative presentations that highlight the exciting career opportunities available in the manufacturing field. Students met with industry professionals and learned about the skills and qualifications needed to excel in these high-demand sectors.
