Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Tony Lalonde as the new head women's basketball coach. With an impressive coaching career spanning over three decades, Coach Lalonde brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to fostering both athletic excellence and personal growth within his players.

Hailing from Bellingham, Wash. , Coach Lalonde has a deep-rooted passion for basketball that started early in his life . A basketball player at Bellingham High School, he continued his career as a point guard on the men's basketball team at Whatcom Community College.

Coach Lalonde's coaching tenure showcases his dedication to elevating athletes at every level. Most recently, he served as the varsity assistant coach for the boys' basketball team at Bellingham High School, where he played a pivotal role in player development, team collaboration, and fostering strong relationships with local high school coaches.

Prior to that position , Coach Lalonde was the associate head coach for the men's basketball team at Whatcom Community College, contributing to player development, scouting opponents, and implementing strategic offensive and defensive schemes. His holistic approach extended beyond the court as he assisted players in their academic progress and helped them integrate into the local community.

Outside of the collegiate sphere, Coach Lalonde established himself as a mentor and trainer through his enterprise, Victorious Hoops Inc. He trained players across all skill levels, including elite NCAA athletes, and organized successful tournaments and camps that promoted skill enhancement and personal growth. His leadership extended to Meridian Select Girls Basketball, where he instilled inspiration, culture, and teamwork among young athletes, resulting in an impressive eight out of nine players earning athletic scholarships.

Coach Lalonde's coaching philosophy is centered on continual improvement, building cohesive teams through shared off-court experiences, and nurturing strong, confident women. His aspirations for the women's basketball program at MHCC align with these values.

"I am honored by the opportunity to bring my experience to Mt. Hood Community College," Coach Lalonde said. "Our number one goal will be to consistently improve every single day, both on and off the court. We are passionate about building a tight-knit yet welcoming program of strong women that continually raise the bar for future teams."

As Coach Lalonde assumes his role, he is supported by a team of talented and experienced assistant coaches. Together, they are poised to guide and mentor the players while creating an environment conducive to growth and success.
