ART281 :  Painting I

In this beginning course, students learn visual language by manipulating tools and materials in the painting medium. Composition, placement/scale of subject matter, pictorial balance and spatial depth are covered and applied to the painting process. Critical thinking is developed through individual and group critiques. These concepts, combined with discussions of painting ideology, critical analysis and study of practicing artists, are designed to expand students' creative voice within a historical and contemporary context. Sequential.
