ENG107 :  World Literature: The Classical World (Seventh Century B.C. to 1200 A.D.)

This course introduces students to an array of Sumerian, Greek, Hindu, Hebrew, Asian, Arab and European classical literature, such as Gilgamesh, Lao Tzu, the "Bhagavad Gita," the "The Quran" and the Japanese Pillow Book. While discussing themes and concerns significant to people of every culture and time within the context of extremely diverse attitudes and tastes, students explore the various characteristics of both classicism and great literature. Students also study the development of modern civilization through the lens of epic literature.
Prerequisite: RD090 and WR090, each with a grade of "C" or better; or placement above stated course levels. Placement into WR121, or completion of WR101 or WR115 recommended.
