Introduction to Leisure and Recreation Management
This course is designed as a general survey course to provide students with a broad understanding of the nature and scope of recreation and leisure behavior and resources upon which they can build their subsequent future specialization. The focus of the course will deal with the hospitality and tourism industry and its relationship to public, private, commercial and voluntary recreation and leisure activities. The history of the recreation and leisure industry, career opportunities, its organization and structure, specific resource and facility management, planning, programming and activities preparation, and finally the future problems and opportunities facing the recreation and leisure industry are explored.
