PTA101 :  Physical Therapy Interventions 1

This course introduces theoretical principles and practical applications of basic patient care skills and selected physical therapy interventions. Major topics include posture and body mechanics, joint motions and planes of motion, wheelchair mobility, positioning and bed mobility, and transfers and gait with assistive devices. The role of modalities is introduced along with soft tissue pathology, various forms of superficial heat and cryotherapy. Basic principles of exercise are introduced.
Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Physical Therapist Assistant program; and concurrent enrollment in PTA101L.
