WL271 :  Expedition Field Experience: Backpacking

This course develops knowledge, techniques, approaches and methodology for teaching and leading wilderness travel experiences. The skills required for backpacking in a remote environment for an extended period of time in the leadership position are covered. Topics include land navigation, route finding, hiking, nutrition, food rationing, decision making and use of judgment. Interpersonal topics include outdoor leadership, communication, group handling, and decision making and judgment relating to group travel and dynamics.
Prerequisite: WL130 and WL150.
