MHCC Invites Community to Career Week Events

Students and community members are invited to attend Career Week, April 27 – May 4, at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) 26000 S.E. Stark Street in Gresham.
Six days of career-related events kick off at noon, April 27, with a “How to Dress for Success” Fashion Show, with clothing provided by Jones New York and Calvin Klein, both Columbia Gorge Outlets in Troutdale, Ore.
Numerous workshops will be provided throughout the week, such as How to Write a Résumé and Effective Interviewing. Career counselors will be available April 29 on a first-come, first-serve basis for résumé and cover letter “speed critiques” in the Career Planning and Counseling Center, room AC1152.
A Career and Job Fair will culminate the week, May 4, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the MHCC Gymnasium, hosted by Mt. Hood Community College and WorkSource Portland Metro East and sponsored by FedEx Ground of Troutdale, Ore. The Career and Job Fair offers students and community members the opportunity to network with local employers and apply for positions and internships. Some of the employers scheduled to attend include FedEx Ground, ON Semiconductor, KOIN Local 6, Portland Fire & Rescue, Samaritan Health Services, AAA Oregon, Oregon Tradeswomen Inc., Kroger Clackamas Bakery and ACS: A Xerox Company.
Resources will also be available from a variety of agencies including Child Care Resource and Referral, MHCC Student Outreach and Recruitment, MHCC Career Planning and Counseling Center, WorkSource Portland Metro East and the Small Business Development Center.
