MHCC Presents Shakespeare and Molière as You Have Never Seen Them Before
Two One-Man Shows – FREE
Posted: April 15, 2011
Outrageous, hilariously tortured, clever – critics have used these adjectives to describe Molière Than Thou, a “greatest hits” play featuring the works of Molière, the French playwright and actor who many consider one of the greatest masters of comedy in Western literature.
Professional actor Tim Mooney will perform for free, two one-man shows in the Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Visual Arts Theatre, April 27, on the Gresham Campus, 26000 SE Stark St. Mooney will perform Molière 1:15 – 2:15 p.m., preceded by Lot O’ Shakespeare, noon to 1 p.m. Critics describe the latter as a frantic, farcical introduction to the Bard’s canon in just one hour. (Wikipedia describes the Shakespeare canon as a collection of 36 plays first published in 1623.)
Mooney has received high praise in many cities for both shows. One writer calls him a “chameleon” and opined that his performance is “enraged, excited and electrifying…he is all over the stage and a joy to watch!”
MHCC students, employees and members of the community are invited to join the fun. To reserve a voucher in advance for groups or for individuals, please contact Eric Tschuy, MHCC language instructor, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Holly Degrow, MHCC literature instructor, at email@example.com.
