Posted: July 22, 2011

More than 800 swimmers from 14 western states are competing July 20 – 23 at the Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Aquatics Center.

“The USA Swimming Sectionals for the Western region is a high-caliber event that attracts many of the country’s best swimmers,” said Brandon Drawz, meet director and manager of aquatics and recreation at MHCC. He also serves on the Board of Directors for USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the U.S.

“This is our most important event of the year at the MHCC Aquatics Center,” Drawz said. “Besides very competitive swimming – several records are expected to be broken this week – the event has substantial economic impact on the area.”

Spectators are welcome to come out and watch the races, Friday and Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. and running until after 4:30 p.m. No charge.
