Posted: November 2, 2011
The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Theatre department presents several performances of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow during November.
Based on the Washington Irving short story, this adaptation is by award winning playwright Kathryn Shultz Miller. This version highlights comedy and action, with just the right amount of thrills and chills for children. This year's production is especially aimed at children in elementary school, first through fifth grades.
All performances will be held in the College Theatre, 26000 S.E. Stark St., in Gresham. Tickets are available for the following performances: Nov. 7, 9 and 14 at 10:30 a.m. and Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. To reserve seats for the morning shows, call 503-491-7154. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Tickets for the Nov. 19 show may be purchased at the door prior to the performance, or in the theatre lobby on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. ? noon. All tickets are $2. As in the past, no one will be turned away because of inability to pay.
When schoolmaster Ichabod Crane arrives in Tarry Town, he thinks he has found the perfect new home. Ichabod's attentions are divided between sampling delicious meals made by local moms and competing with Brom Bones for the hand of beautiful and wealthy Katrina Van Tassel. Brom sees him moving in on his lady friend and invites Ichabod to a night of ghost stories around the campfire. Will Ichabod be brave enough to walk alone after hearing the story of the headless horseman? Will Katrina choose superstitious Ichabod or practical joker Brom?
