MHCC to Host Annual Salmon Festival

Posted: October 10, 2012

The third annual celebration of salmon and the environment will be held Oct. 28, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Multnomah Falls. The event is sponsored by the Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Geography department and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS).

Displays and information will be geared to children, but everyone is welcome to attend this fun, free event. MHCC students and employees will serve as guides, as well as face painters and storytellers who will share some entertaining fish tales. The college’s mascot, Barney the St. Bernard, and Smokey the Bear will each make an appearance!

Event planners say it is easy to sit back and listen to news broadcasts about the importance of salmon to the ecology, economics and recreation of our region – but it is awe inspiring to watch these fish in the wild, and discover how you can affect their survival.
