‘Objectified’ Paintings on Exhibit at MHCC
Posted: October 16, 2012
The Fireside Gallery at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) will feature still life paintings by Sarah Fagan, Nov. 1 – 29. The exhibit, called “Objectified,” is free and open to the public.
The gallery is located in the Student Union (formerly called the College Center) on the Gresham Campus, 26000 SE Stark Street. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Fagan says her “painterly strokes attempt to elevate the status of everyday objects through the medium of acrylic on panel. Turning my back on the three-quarter view typically employed by still life painters, I often present my subjects from an aerial perspective. The resulting visual immediacy forces confrontation between object and viewer.”
Fagan holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and English Literature and worked three years as a writer and editor for a New England arts magazine before moving to Portland, Ore. in 2009. She attended a post baccalaureate program in bookbinding, printmaking and painting at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. She frequently teaches art classes in schools, libraries and other venues.
Parking on all MHCC campuses is free, all days, all times.
