MHCC Theatre Presents ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ for Kids
Posted October 19, 2012
The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Theatre department presents several performances of the favorite children’s production, “Fantastic Mr. Fox” during November.
“Fantastic Mr. Fox” is based on Roald Dahl’s book of the same title. Dahl is also the author of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” as well as “James and the Giant Peach.” The MHCC production features a cast of 10 actors, a full set, props, costumes, sound design and full-face furry woodland creature masks. This year’s production is especially aimed at children in elementary school, first through fifth grades.
All performances will be held in the College Theatre, 26000 S.E. Stark Street, in Gresham. Tickets are available for the following performances: Nov. 5, 7, 9, 14 and 16 at 10:30 a.m. and Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. To reserve seats for the morning shows, please call 503-491-7154. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Tickets for the Nov. 17 show may be purchased at the door prior to the performance, or in the theatre lobby, Monday – Wednesday, 3–5 p.m., Thursday 1-5 p.m. and Friday 1-4 p.m. All tickets are $2. As in the past, no one will be turned away because of inability to pay.
Mr. Fox is an excellent provider for his family, but where is he getting all that delicious food? From Boggis, Bunce and Bean, of course, and they’re really mad that this small creature is stealing from their stores! They’re the meanest farmers around, and determined to put an end to Mr. Fox and anyone else who gets in the way. Will they succeed in terminating Mr. Fox or will the nasty men be “out-foxed?”
Directed by bv Jesse Merz
Jesse Merz, the new MHCC Theatre artistic director, will direct the play. Merz was most recently a theatre professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich., and has a long history of theatre-making in New York City and the Northwest. Daryl Harrison-Carson, MHCC instructor, is the scenic and lighting designer. Matt Pavik is the assistant technical director and sound designer. Lynne Schuepbach is the costume designer.
