‘First Thursday’ Brings Variety of Free Concerts to MHCC

Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) announces the schedule for First Thursday, a free music series that celebrates the student body’s rich cultural heritage.
All First Thursday performances are noon – 1 p.m. in the Student Union on the Gresham Campus, 26000 S.E. Stark St. The public is welcome to attend. Parking is free on all MHCC campuses, no permit required.
Janice Scroggins, Grammy-nominated musician, will be joined by Arietta Ward, MHCC Cosmetology instructor, and other gospel singers. They will be joined by Reggie Houston, guest saxophonist. reggiehouston.com
Mike Prigodich, musician/composer, will perform his original compositions, joined by Reinhardt Melz, drummer, and Damian Erskine, bassist. damianerskine.com
Back from recording their first release in Cuba, Machete Men, comprised of musical all-stars, will rock the Student Union with music en espanol. purecubansugar.com
Related to a famous musical lineage bassist, Damian Erskine brings his compositions in a trio with drummer Reinhardt Melz (MHCC alumni) and pianist Greg Goebel. damianerskine.com
