Joint Announcement from Classified Employees Association and Mt. Hood Community College
The Classified Employees Association (CEA) and Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) District Board of Education are pleased to announce that a tentative agreement has been reached in contract negotiations.
CEA members will meet Feb. 19 to go over the proposed three-year agreement. It is expected that CEA members will vote on the contract in late February. If ratified by the CEA, the proposal will then go to the MHCC Board for approval.
Debbie Derr, MHCC president, said, “I appreciate the hard work, long hours, positive attitude and high level of professionalism that both our team and the CEA demonstrated during the collective bargaining process. I believe we reached a tentative agreement that demonstrates our level of commitment to the CEA, while supporting the long-term fiscal stability of the college.”
Cathy Nichols, CEA president and a member of the association’s bargaining team, said, “Both sides gave up things in the process, but that’s the nature of bargaining. I think we have a proposal that we can all work with.”
