The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) District Board of Education and the Classified Employees Association (CEA) are pleased to announce that a three-year collective bargaining agreement has been reached.
Diane Noriega, MHCC District board chair, Cathy Nichols, CEA president, Corey Huston, CEA vice president, and Debbie Derr, MHCC president
CEA members voted on the tentative agreement in late February and MHCC board members voted March 12 to ratify the agreement. The contract will be in effect July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2016.
Cathy Nichols, CEA president, says, “After 13 months of hard work, we have an agreement that took dedication, commitment and team work.”
Debbie Derr, MHCC president, says, “We could not serve our students without the valued participation of our Classified employees. To have the agreement settled provides us the opportunity to focus 100 percent on student success. The work of everyone involved is greatly appreciated.”
MHCC’s board chair, Diana Noriega, adds, "On behalf of the board, we want to express our appreciation to both bargaining teams. We have a fair and balanced agreement that will serve MHCC well."
New collective bargaining agreements with the college’s other two employee groups are now in effect. A contract with the Part-Time Faculty & Tutors Association was ratified last October and a contract with the Full-Time Faculty Association was ratified in February.
