Saints Pitcher Heading to PSU Next Year

Kristen CrawfordKristen Crawford, a second-year pitcher on the Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Saints softball team, has signed a letter of intent to play next year for the Portland State University Vikings.

Crawford, who hails from Pendleton, Ore., was named 2012 5A Pitcher of the Year and led her high school team to the 5A state title. In her freshman season at MHCC, she was named First Team All-region Pitcher and achieved a 15-2 win-loss record.

She currently leads the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) in earned run average (ERA) and has achieved a 12-0 win-loss record.

“Kristen has been around our program many years,” says Meadow McWhorter, MHCC softball coach. “I gave her pitching lessons when she was 10 years old.”

Crawford will graduate this June with an associate degree from MHCC.
