MHCC’s Fireplace Gallery to Feature Photos by Keith Dillon
Posted: April 25, 2014
The Fireplace Gallery at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) welcomes a show by digital artist and photographer Keith Dillon, May 2 – 29.
He describes his exhibit, “Dreams, Visions and Illusions,” as “super surreal, very graphic, with complex composition and heavy use of perspective.”
Of the pieces in his exhibit, “Some make a statement, others tell a story and some are just for fun.” He shoots objects with a digital camera, then cuts and pastes the images onto a background. He sometimes uses filters or paint to create an effect, in a process called compositing.
“We have been told all our lives that a photograph shows us a real thing,” Dillon says. By using compositing, however, his art looks like a photograph, yet something is out of sync. The technique draws the viewer in, and the story develops.
The Fireplace Gallery is located in the Student Union on MHCC’s Gresham Campus, 26000 S.E. Stark St. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m., - 7 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Parking on all campuses is free, no permit required.
