Gresham Area Residents Warned About Scam Artist

Posted: June 13, 2014

Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) has received several reports of a male suspect going door-to-door and misrepresenting himself as a MHCC student soliciting cash donations for what he says is for the men’s indoor soccer team.

The college does not have an indoor soccer team and residents are being warned of the scam.

Victims report that the suspect portrays himself as a MHCC student and a member of the college’s men’s indoor soccer team and asks for donations for a team fundraiser. The victims are told as part of their donation they are entered into a drawing. The suspect then returns later to advise the victim that they have won a flat screen television and need only to pay the shipping charges. Of course the television never arrives.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20’s, very tall with short dark hair and a slender build.
