Dental Hygiene
Associate of Applied Science (Restricted Entry)
Dental hygienists work with dentists to provide well-rounded oral health care to patients. They are dedicated to helping people improve their health by teaching preventive oral-health measures and by treating existing conditions.
Their duties may include taking X-rays, applying cavity-preventing agents such as fluoride and sealants, administering local anesthetics, removing hard and soft deposits from teeth and providing instructions and information for better at-home dental care.
Visible improvements in oral health often can be seen in a very short time and dental hygienists receive considerable satisfaction in knowing they have helped people toward a healthier life.
