College Now: Dual Credit Program
With Mt. Hood Community College's LDT (Lower Division Transfer) and CTE (Career & Technical Education) programs, high school students can get a head start by earning college credit prior to graduation. Registering for college credit while in high school is a unique opportunity that gradually introduces students to the college lifestyle and associated responsibilities. The Student/Parent Fact Sheet and Sequential Classes list provides further details for the LDT program.
Is this for me?
Are you a high school junior or senior looking for a jump start into college? College Now is MHCC’s dual credit program. In cooperation with district high schools, MHCC offers the opportunity to earn college credit while enrolled in high school. Credits can be earned in both lower division college transfer courses (LDT) and professional-technical courses (CTE (Career & Technical Education)). In exceptional cases other qualified students outside of the junior and senior levels will be considered.
Where do I start?
Click on your high school name below or contact your high school counselor for a list of approved courses. You may also contact the MHCC LDT Office at 503-491-6980, or the CTE (Career & Technical Education) Office at 503-491-6991. Approved courses vary among schools and teachers. To register, complete a registration form and submit it to your high school instructor by the term deadlines. The college will bill students a one-time admission fee plus reduced course fees. Course lists may change during the school year.

How does the Program work?
Once courses are completed, your grades will be posted to your MHCC transcript. Your credits may also be transferable to a number of four-year institutions. Up to twelve credits of courses numbered 100 and above may be used as elective credit toward the Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree at MHCC.
Registering for college credit while in high school is a priceless opportunity that teaches students to adhere to college deadlines for registration and payments, and to policies for dropping courses. The LDT and CTE (Career & Technical Education) programs introduce students to college life, and responsibilities, helping to make the transition from high school to college a smooth one*.
Want to know more?
Anyone interested in the LDT program should call 503-491-6980. For information about CTE (Career & Technical Education), please call the Mt. Hood Regional Consortium Office at 503-491-6991.
*Earning MHCC credit at a district high school does not automatically enroll a person in a MHCC certificate or degree program. MHCC admissions procedures and requirements must still be met.
