Concurrent Enrollment Information For MHCC Students
Concurrent Enrollment procedures address the special needs of a student who wish to take a particular course (or courses) at another US Citizenship and Immigrations Services (CIS)-approved school and would be less than full-time at his or her home school unless the courses were counted toward his or her overall course load.
Students enrolled for a full-time program at an CIS–approved school do not require CIS permission to take additional courses at another CIS-approved school. However, to ensure appropriate record keeping and compliance with Mt. Hood Community College policies the following items must be completed before a student may concurrently enroll with MHCC and another school.
When a student is enrolled at MHCC and wishes to take supplemental classes at another institution:
-
The student must complete and submit the permission to concurrently enroll form for admitted MHCC students each term. The International Student Advisor as well as the International Admissions Evaluator must approve the student’s concurrent enrollment plan, especially if the concurrent enrollment involves a student enrolling in less than 12 credit hours at MHCC.
-
The student may only enroll in course work that will apply toward the degree requirements from the home school. The student will need to demonstrate the classes being taken at the other institution will apply toward the degree they are earning at MHCC. Students must provide copies of grade reports each term from the other school.
-
The student must be enrolled in the equivalent of a full course of study between the two schools. Student must provide official verification, such as a copy of current registration or a college transcript, to MHCC of what course work they have enrolled in at the other school.
-
Students are required to maintain academic status based on each school’s policies. Students who do not maintain academic status are subject to all applicable consequences including but not limited to being denied continuing co-enrollment participation.
When a student arranges authorization to be concurrently enrolled they also provide permission for each school to share information with the other including, but not limited to, academic status, CIS status, and graduation requirements.
