On-Campus Employment
General Information
- No prior CIS (formerly INS) approval is required if the F-1 student is in status.
- Work occurs on school premises, but can be with an on-location commercial firm providing services for students on campus.
- Employment is limited to 20 hours per week (maximum in a given week, not an average) while school is in session. You can work full-time during vacations or holidays.
Eligibility Requirements

You must be an F-1 student enrolled full time or, if on break, you must intend to enroll full-time next term.

You must have a valid passport.

You must have either a Social Security number or Tax ID number.
Application Procedures
- Submit your valid passport and SSN or Tax ID number to the International Admissions Evaluator.
- The International Admissions Evaluator will give you a signed “On-Campus Employment Eligibility” letter. Take this letter to Cat Parish in the Financial Aid Office. (If you do not have a SSN or Tax ID number, you will need to go to the Social Security Office to apply for one. See http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10181.html for more information)
- Cat Parish will advise you of any available positions and the procedures to follow to apply for those positions.
