Alternative Ways to Earn College Credit

Non-Traditional Credit

Mt. Hood Community College  provides a number of ways a student may earn credit toward a degree or certificate in addition to classroom experience: Advanced Placement (AP) Program, Challenge, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and the College Now dual credit program. A maximum of 45 non-traditional credits can be applied toward an MHCC degree.

For AP, Challenge, CLEP and IB:

  • Credit may be granted only after the student has earned 12 or more credit hours at Mt. Hood Community College.
  • A maximum of 45 credits of AP, Challenge, CLEP and IB can be applied toward a Mt. Hood Community College degree.

The office of Admissions, Registration and Records (503-491-7393) and the Academic Advising and Transfer Center (503-491-7315) can provide interested students with procedures.
