Course Description

RNX 27: Introduction to Perioperative Nursing
Prerequisite: Limited to registered nurses with current licensure and student nurses with faculty approval. Work experience in the clinical practice setting preferred.

This course is an introduction to perioperative (operating room) nursing for the registered nurse who has no previous operating room experience and who wishes to care for the surgical patient during the intraoperative phase of hospitalization.

The lab is held in our on-campus surgical suite using supplies and equipment commonly found in the operating room.

Three lecture/three lab hours per week. Four (4) credits
