Your Curriculum
The following outline is suggested as a course of study for art majors at MHCC. Students are strongly encouraged to contact a full-time faculty member for specific information about transferring their art courses to a four-year school. They can help you to prepare your portfolio for successful admission, plan a course of study which will enhance skills and efficiently transfer credits from MHCC to another institution.

Basic Design I and Basic Design II are offered in both digital (computer applications) and traditional (studio) formats.
Note: Basic Design I introduces students to art principles and foundations, Basic Design II concentrates on color theory. (Basic Design I highly recommended before Basic Design II) and Basic Design III on design strategies for three-dimensional art works, engineering and architecture.

Note: Intermediate to Advanced 200 level courses include concentrations in the following disciplines: Life Drawing Sculpture Printmaking Painting Digital Art Ceramics
These concentrations provide the training and development of portfolio work for preparedness to successfully transfer as an Art Major at both public and private art schools.
