MHCC Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Geoff Gibor

Geoff is returning as assistant coach for the season at Mt. Hood Community College. Geoff brings a great work ethic to the team and has shown this with his tireless recruiting. Head Coach Rob Nielson on Geoff, "Coach Gib has done a tremendous job this spring and summer talking to players from all areas, he has the ability to talk with players and develop a repore immediately. I think he could become a big time recruiter as he gains experience and contacts" Nielson continues, "I am counting on Gib to take on more responsibility with the team and especially the inner workings of a team. I know what an impact a coach can have on players and as an assistant coach, you are able to develop different relationships than a head coach can. We both learned last year the importance of working together and building chemistry within the team. I think Gib will do a great job this year". In addition to recruiting and the role of team psychologist, Gib will be working on the players on an individual level. He brings the experience of playing in many levels of basketball. Gib has played on many teams and has always prided himself on being a team player. While at Blue Mountain C.C., Gib was instrumental in the best season in the history of the school, as runner-up of the NWAACC. Coach Bartee's respect for Gib continues today as he constantly tries to recruit Gib to work for BMCC.

Gib works full time for U.S. Bancorp and coaches part time. It isn't an easy schedule and he sacrifices much for the chance to work with the players. His love of basketball and coaching pushes him to succeed. The chance to help a few young men reach a little higher than they thought possible is his reward. Gib summarizes his view on coaching "I see what I was able to accomplish with hard work and I hope to instill that in our players. I look forward to working with players we recruited and I am very excited about our team and the players we have this year. It's going to be a great year for the Saints!"

Coach Gib is married to the former Ronda Lusty, a Big Eight Swimming champion at the University of Kansas. They are living in Troutdale, having just celebrated their first anniversary!
