Hello. I’m Larry. I’m Learning Assistance Center Coordinator. I promote the center and support the work of the tutors and Learning Specialists. I also work with ENL students to improve their reading, writing, grammar, speaking, and listening skills. I know from personal experience how challenging it can be to learn a second language well and to learn a new culture at the same time. I look forward to helping you develop new skills and self confidence. I also work with both ENL and non-ENL students on writing skills.

Hi, my name is Lance Lannigan, and I run the computer lab for the Learning Assistance Center. Come to me with any computer questions. Using a computer is an essential part of a successful Mt. Hood college experience, and it can be frustrating when you don’t have either the experience or the one-on-one help you need to work through a computer problem. I will patiently explain and teach you the skills you need to become a confident computer user! |

My goal is that the challenges of learning math and science concepts won't stand as roadblocks to any student's pursuit of their academic goals. Many students feel insecure in these areas. I would enjoy looking with you at the best ways to study your chemistry and biology, the ways to avoid getting stuck when you solve math problems, and how to be confident as you take tests. Don't dread your required science or math courses - come and see me today! |

My name is Kristine Wood. Currently I am teaching ENL classes, and I really enjoy the students I work with. My special area of study is writing, and I'm always eager to help students build their writing skills. Another special interest is helping non-native English speaking students who are involved in health-profession related study, especially since I have many years experience working in hospitals. One of my goals is to help students build study skills and also the communication skills needed in various settings. The LAC is an environment where I can help students, both non-native English speaking, and native English speakers--make a successful transition into college study so they can achieve their goals.

Hi, my name is JiGuang Li, but you can just call me Lee. I work at the LAC as a Learning Specialist, and I also teach ESL/ENL courses at MHCC. At the LAC, I help mostly the students who are taking reading and writing courses, including ENL students. What motivates me at the LAC is the positive attitudes I see in both students and the staff. Being a non-native English speaker myself, I have something to share especially withnon-native English speakingstudents in areas such as learning styles, cultural adjustment and other linguistic challenges one encounters everyday in a new language environment. We might have different goals in life, but at the LAC, I think we share one common goal, that is to help you succeed in your study and build your confidence! Thank you!
