- Long-term exposure allows instructor to know each student personally

- Students learn applied academic skills in a non-threating environment

Students Learn Marketable Skills
Students learn a marketable skill, and expect a starting salary of $20,000+ on successful completion of the welding program.
Students are able to:

Who IS a Good Candidate for Welding?
- Students who plan to attend college - MHCC is College and Welding Technology is at Mt. Hood Community College
- Students who want a life long skill
- Students who want to get a good paying job to save for further education
- Students who like to put things together
- College-bound students who want a degree in Welding Metallurgy or Engineering
Who Might NOT Be a Good Candidate for Career Technical Education?
- Those who put little value in hands on work
- Students looking for an easy place to kill time
