MHCC Saints High School Invitational
February 16-17, 2007
Mt. Hood Community College
On behalf of Mt. Hood Community College Forensics Team, I would like to invite
you to the Mt. Hood Community College Saints Invitational. The importance of
Forensics is widely acknowledged by the faculty, coaching staff and students
who participate in the activity at the community college level. We are taking
this opportunity to build bridges between our two communities through the sponsorship
of this tournament to provide a service to those who work so hard to achieve
excellence at this activity. We will be offering a full-service tournament including
10 individual events, Student Congress, and Public, LD-V, and Ted Turner debate.
In this time of funding instability, we are lowering our fees to assist teams
who may be finding themselves with very tight budgets. In order for us to do
this, we are asking all teams to make sure they bring judges to cover their
entries as we may not be able to hire as many judges to help cover you. We would
rather have your judges than your uncovered judging fees!
Please also notice we have adjusted the schedule (debate only on Friday, starting
late) due to a lack of rooms on our campus on Friday. We hope the changes don’t
cause too many inconveniences while we still try to provide a full-service tournament
for all.
We will also feature the presentation of the Michael Ramon Padilla Top Speaker
Award. The recipient of this award will be the student who has earned the most
sweepstakes points for their team. This award is named after Michael Ramon Padilla
who was a colleague of mine from Clark College and Portland State University.
Ramon was an exceptional speaker known for his leadership and impressive demonstration
of sportsmanship.
