MHCC Commencement 2008
Dear Graduate,
The following information will guide you through the process of preparing for the commencement ceremony. This information is also available on our website: http://www.mhcc.edu/graduation
Commencement Ceremony:
Commencement will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, June 13, 2008 in the College Stadium, rain or shine. Graduates will assemble for the procession in the gymnasium no later than 6:30 p.m.
Commencement Rehearsal:
Please plan to attend a rehearsal in the College stadium at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, June 13, 2008. It should last no longer than 30 minutes.
Seating:
Seating is by general admission; no tickets required. The stadium gates will open at 5:45 p.m. Special seating will be provided for guests who are physically disabled and/or elderly upon request the evening of the ceremony. Guests may bring blankets and/or chairs for overflow seating on the lawn. There will be overflow seating on the bleachers located in the gymnasium as well. If you have family or friends who are not able to attend, they can view the ceremony on Multnomah Community television at a later date. The dates and channel for viewing will be printed in the commencement program.
Cap & Gown Information:
Students may purchase their cap and gown for $26.99 beginning May 1 through June 13, 2008 in the CollegeBookstore (see information from Jostens). Hours available for purchasing are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Honors:
Students graduating with school honors: (MHCC cumulative grade point average of 3.65 or higher as of winter term, 2008) may purchase an honors tassel and cord with their cap and gown. Students graduating with Phi Theta Kappa honors: will receive a separate letter explaining how to order Phi Theta Kappa stoles, tassels and other honors regalia.
Nancys Floral will be selling graduation items and flowers at the main entrance. Food concession stands will also be available with various food and drinks. If you should have any questions, please call our Admission, Registration and Records office at 503-491-7393.
