Netflix Service for Instructional Activities

MHCC Library is pleased to offer a new pilot service for MHCC employees: access to the Netflix movie rental service. This service is designed for any MHCC employee to use in instructional activities. It is not intended for recreational or home use.

Netflix is an economical and fast method of providing access to DVDs. Instead of investing in large permanent collections, we offer access to Netflix’s huge inventory, with 1-2 day delivery. We can serve up to 5 simultaneous Netflix borrowers, with a loan period of 1 week. We are running the service as a pilot project through June 2007 and will evaluate its effectiveness at that point.

How does it work?

  1. Find a video on Netflix. (http://www.netflix.com). Go to Browse selection and use the Netflix search box, which gives access to all 85,000+ titles.

  1. Fill in the request form one week before you need the DVD.

  2. We will email you when the DVD arrives. The DVD will be checked out to you for 7 days and placed on the hold shelf. After three business days on the hold shelf, the DVD will be returned to Netflix. Please call the Library at 503-491-6974 or 503-491-7161 if you need to extend this time.

  3. Pick up the DVD from the Library hold shelf and continue the checkout procedure at the Checkout Desk. Please return it on or before the due date. Prompt return of the DVD will ensure we can service our full quota of 5 simultaneous users. One 7 day renewal is allowed. If a video isn’t returned within 30 days, a $50.00 replacement charge will be billed.
