LDT Fact Sheet for Students & Parents

  • A non-refundable $25 admission fee is charged once per lifetime. A reduced $25 course fee is charged for each course, each term you register. Do not supply payment with the registration form, you will be billed later. Should you not receive a bill and you are sure you submitted a form call 503-491-6981 or 503-491-6980 immediately to resolve problems.

Note: If you do not pay your MHCC invoice within 90 days your account is turned over to a collection agency. Your account is in your name, not your parents. An unpaid bill at MHCC could result in a bad credit report for you. Invoices must be paid; registering for courses is not a free service.
  • Students who are part of the Free & Reduced Lunch Program pay only the $25 one-time admission fee and will have all LDT course fees waived when they submit a copy of their Free & Reduced Lunch Program paperwork with their payment stub each time they are billed by the college. No payments or additional paperwork will be accepted with the registration form. Please wait for the college invoice.

Note: Tech Prep (CTE) courses provide no waivers for students on the Free & Reduced Lunch Program. This waiver is for Lower Division Transfer (LDT) courses only.

LDT = courses that provide credit towards a bachelor's degree in areas such as history, literature, math or science.

Tech Prep (CTE) = courses that provide credit towards one of the associate of applied science programs such as early childhood education, computer applications or automotive service technology.
  • Solomon Amendment Disclosure: This amendment requires by law that the college release upon request from recruiters of the branches of the US military:
      • student name
      • address
      • telephone number
      • date of birth
      • education level
      • academic major
      • degrees received

If you requested that this information not be released through your high school, you must additionally fill out a Request to Prevent Disclosure of Directory Information form available at the MHCC Admissions, Registration and Records Office when registering in the College Now dual credit program.  Once you complete this form, MHCC will not release your information to military recruiters or other parties except as specified in the notification or upon written permission from the student.
  • Grades earned become a part of your permanent college transcript . If you are not earning the grades you want on a transcript you must drop that class by the Friday of the 7 th week of the college term. Your teacher cannot make this drop for you. You must contact the college Admissions, Registration & Records Office at 503-491-7347 or call 503-491-6980 to authorize this drop.
  • If you drop a college credit class at the high school or move away, you must also drop the course at the college. MHCC does not know your attendance status at the high school and will assume you are still there. If you don't drop at MHCC an F grade will appear on your college transcript!
  • Sequential Courses must be taken in order and you must pass the previous course with a C or better in order to enroll in the next term. You cannot register for WR122 in the winter without first having registered for WR121 in the fall. Examples of sequential courses are English Composition, Foreign Languages, Math, and Science.
  • The college calendar is different from the high school calendar. You are required to complete a MHCC registration form each term if your high school class goes beyond one college term. The college does not know if you are continuing on unless you tell us. No late registrations will be accepted past the registration due date, and you cannot come back in later terms to get credit for those classes for which you chose not to register, forgot to register, or did not resolve outstanding problems.
  • Your teacher will receive a MHCC class list . Check to make sure your name is on the list for each class you registered, each term. If your name is missing or spelled incorrectly please notify your teacher.
  • Once you register and have been issued a MHCC ID number you can receive a photo ID card. These are free of charge and can be obtained at the campus bookstore. The card allows students to check out materials from the MHCC library, receive discounted prices to on-campus sporting events, musical events or plays, and free access to the pool.
  • You may review your college record online at http://www.mhcc.edu/pages/943.asp . Your MHCC ID# is your username and your 6-digit date of birth is your initial password. You will be prompted to change your password after the first login. If you do so, please make note of the new password you select.
  • MHCC courses numbered 100-299 are acceptable towards a MHCC degree or certificate and may or may not be eligible for transfer to four-year institutions. However, students should be aware the MHCC courses may be accepted as elective credit only or not at all if the credits do not fit the student's major discipline or major. Transfer acceptability is at the discretion of the receiving institution.
