Lena Chan grew up in Hawaii and had the fortunate experience
of playing with a nationally ranked club team, Kamali'i Manaloa. The training
she received in Hawaii allowed her to play in the Big XII conference for
Baylor University. While at Baylor, she was trained by Brian Hosfeld,
one of the best technical coaches in the nation. By the end of her career
at Baylor, the program was ranked as one of the top 25 teams in the nation.
As an outside hitter and defensive specialist, Lena earned Baylor volleyball
records and Academic All-American standings.
After graduating from Baylor in 1997, Lena Chan started the program
at Southridge High School, a new school in Beaverton, Oregon where she
also

teaches math and engineering courses. As
head coach for three years, there were many successes and traditions
built from the ground up. Lena currently also serves as the director
of Athena Volleyball Academy – a volleyball club in Beaverton
that features 8 teams, of different age levels that compete in regional
tournaments. She also coaches at many summer camps around the nation
including Baylor University and Pepperdine.
Lena is the mother to Malia, a budding 2’3” middle blocker
born to Alex and Lena in 2002.

Chelsie Freeman- assistant volleyball coach for her 3rd
season, former Mt. Hood player from 2001-2003 then played at Portland
State in 2004, graduated from PSU in 2006 with a Community Health Degree.
