The Saints Are Once Again Rising to the
Top of the Southern Region and NWAACC
In his second season as MHCC Head Track & Field Coach, Matt Hart has led a tremendous turn around in the performance of the Saints. On Saturday – May 12, 2007, Mt. Hood hosted the NWAACC Southern Region Track & Field Championship Meet.
Mt. Hood’s men, in a strong performance, won the Second Place Trophy for the Southern Region Championships by scoring 195 points to Lane’s 210. Other scores were Clackamas (178), Clark (97) and SW Oregon (78). Four Saints were in contention for the Male Southern Region High Award. Sheldon Wilkinson and Bryce Johnson both scored 20 points, Josh Larson scored 24 points and Jarrett Ziemer was second in the individual scoring by earning 26 points.
Loaded with highly talented women, the Saints’ women won the First Place Trophy for the Southern Region Championship by scoring 232 points. Lane (219), Clark (126), Clackamas (106), and SW Oregon (58) were the other team scores. Mt Hood had four women battle for the Female Southern Region High Point Award. Annie Hayward scored 29.5 points, Sheryl Page scored 35.5 points, Catherine Sims scored 42.5 points and Amber Glunt received the Female Southern Region High Point Award by scoring 59.5 points. Mt Hood swept the awards on the women’s side as Matt Hart received the Women’s Southern Region Coach of the Year.
