What is Service-Learning?
Service-learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates classroom theory with experience through meaningful volunteer service activities that are in response to real community needs. Characteristics of service-learning include:
- Linkage between academic content and service to the community
- Structured reflection activities used to demonstrate learning
- Mutually beneficial for student and community
