Information for Faculty
All MHCC faculty and administrators will be receiving a pamphlet entitled Partners for Prevention: Your Chance to Be an Ally in Health Education. This publication* is an educational resource for use in higher education. In your role as faculty, you may encounter student behaviors that can provide you with warning signs about an alcohol or drug problem. I encourage you to read and keep this pamphlet for future reference.
From the pamphlet;
You can help students to make positive choices in their lives both personally and academically. You play a unique role in the prevention process because you have an on-going relationship with the students you work with on a daily basis. This pamphlet describes a number of ways in which you can participate that might influence your students to make healthier and safer choices, increasing their chances at success in college.
The Health and Wellness Resource Center (HWRC) located in AC 1051A (inside the College Center ) has:
- Resource information to assist students with alcohol or drug problems (also available online - click here to go to online resource info sheets)
- CD ROMS/DVDs related to alcohol and drug
- Excellent websites bookmarked on the computers
- A 12-step Support Group meeting for anyone with an alcohol or drug problem held each Monday at noon in AC 1267 (just off the main mall) and is free, private and confidential
You can also refer a student to the HWRC by using the Career Planning and Counseling's online referral. Click here to go to the form. You will see a number of alcohol/drug prevention related programs sponsored by the HWRC throughout the school year.
Please encourage students to use these resources. Thank you!
