Apple Authorized Training Center
Mt. Hood Community College's Integrated Media Department celebrated the opening of their Apple Authorized Training Center on October 26, 2007. Jack Schommer, Apple Certified Pro Trainer, reports that "this prestigious designation is the latest coup for a department whose unique Integrated Media degree program develops digital skills for jobs in the creative services industry."
The Apple Authorized Training Center at MHCC is one of a handful in the Pacific Northwest and the only one offering Final Cut Pro Certification training in the Portland metro area. Apple's Training Centers are carefully selected to meet the highest standards in all areas, including faculty, course delivery and infrastructure. By gaining authorization from Apple for this center, MHCC's Integrated Media department can offer high-quality training to all segments of the creative services industry.
The college recently added 25 new Intel iMacs in the AC1391 Macintosh lab, fully loaded with Apple Final Cut Studio 2, Aperture, Digidesign's ProTools and the Adobe Creative Suite 3. MHCC is now ready to offer short-term training to industry professionals, software certification to Integrated Media students and introductory classes to the public. The creative services industry represents one of the fastest growing and largest segments of the job market in Portland and the Pacific Northwest. Classes and workshops are being scheduled for the upcoming year.
